Windproof Fabrics

Windproof fabric is a fabric that has a windproof effect. Windproof fabrics require a coating or film treatment, or the fabric itself is very dense. After coating treatment or film treatment, basically all fabrics can achieve windproof effect by this method, and can be completely airtight, with zero air permeability test.

If the density of the fabric itself is used to achieve a windproof effect, similar fabrics are knitted and woven fabrics. Due to the high density and many interlacing points of woven fabrics, it is not as porous as knitted fabrics, so it is not as breathable as knitted fabrics, which is warmer and easier to maintain temperature.

Windproof fabrics are designed to block the passage of wind and are often used in outdoor gear, such as jackets and pants, to help keep the wearer warm and protected from the elements. There are several types of fabrics that have windproof properties, including:

Tightly woven fabrics: Fabrics with a high thread count and a tight weave are less likely to allow wind to pass through.

Coated fabrics: Fabrics that have been coated with a windproof layer, such as polyurethane or silicone, are resistant to wind.

Laminated fabrics: Fabrics that have been laminated with a windproof layer, such as a thin film of plastic, are resistant to wind.

Technical fabrics: Technical fabrics are specially designed for performance and may be treated with a windproof coating or laminated with a windproof layer to help block the passage of wind.
